Evo vs. STI | Anything and Everything [ALL THREADS MERGED]
I haven't driven an STI, only an Evo.
I did sit in an STI, though, and I was disappointed with its interior, especially the seats, which I thought were wimpy and cheesy looking. They just couldn't compare to the Evo's Recaros. I also found the STI's steering wheel to be pretty cheesy looking.
Most magazines said that the STI's interior was nicer than the Evo's, and I disagree. Hopefully the magazines are right about the Evo being the better handling of the two.

First off, If you are a true rally fan and a fan of an official rally car then you should know th erule about engine size in the rally rule book. No engine should be larger than 2000cc or 2.0 liters. Mitsubishi is running a 2.0 DOHC Turbocharged and intercooled, you all know that. Subaru WRX STi is running a 2.5 liter engine only to get more horsepower which is not a bad idea. But it did break Rally rules. Im NOT saying you shouldn't buy it, I mean its a Great Car. Its not as good in Handling as the Evo. They claim its a real rally car since they consider the radio as optional equipment. They went above 2.0 liters to get people to buy WRX STi instead of the Evo. I personally consider Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and it looks better. But hey!!!..Subaru WRX STi is a great car especially for only a couple thousand more than the evo. But Mitsubishi has my vote so far...Go team

I'm all for the EVO, I originally wanted an sti but there are so many of them by me I've seen at least 10 of them all different in the past week. That and the EVO's interior fits me better and I couldnt justify buying a 30k+ car that doesnt come with a stereo.
i had the chance to taste drive both the STi and the Evo , I prefer the way the Evo handle and also the breaking on it. The Evo gave a better feeling for the car , also i prefer the way the front end on the Evo it is . It was a very close decision since there both great cars , but also price tag i can just afford 30k while the STi had a price tag of 35k which started to make a difference . Also the Subaru dealer didnt want to negotiate the price and wasnt offering a great APR % with the STi , like if it was the las coca cola in the desert . Thats not cool to do business with some one like that . Im glad on my decision of going with the Evo , at the end it was almost comparing a mustang vs a camaro ..
There are many factors I decided on before purchasing my Evo. Who does not want more power! But I hate the sound of that flat four. Reading all the comparisons between the Evo and Sti, the Evos always wins despite its power disadvantage. If any one reads road and track way in the back of the magazine, you will see all the numbers of the cars they ever tested. The Evo has the shortest stopping distance of any car posted. The Evo out handles the Sti. The Evo out brakes the Sti. It also out accelerates the Sti. Its a better all around performer. I finally sat in a Sti the other day and man that steering wheels feels like it belongs on an 18 wheeler compared to the nice little momo in the Evo. The seats are not that supportive. No Radio No Sunroof. The Evo has a nice sound system from the factory. We really need more power and a sixth gear in the Evo. I was a little apprehensive about the Evos 4g63 boosted to 19psi. But i am used to it now. The last and major factor price, I paided 27k for my tarmac black Evo. I love it and even if the Sti comes with 400hp next time around I am still keeping My Evo Period
