not much comparison there....... from 40-100mph the cobra is about 3 seconds faster..... but from 0-40mph the cobra is probably 1-2 slower.... I did a 12.4@116mph so my 0-100 was probably around 10 seconds flat..... evo 0-100 is about 12.8 or so.? Cobra really really puts you in your seat...

hmm. if he "doesnt give a ****" about streetracing, he probably doesnt care about handling either. if you like subaru and its "great quality interior", get it, Whats the point of asking everybody, you either like it or you dont.

My good friend just bought the sti, imo the interior looked cheap and ugly, i dont know...i love evos

you guys are a bunch of sore loooooosssers. The EVO is great but it's not perfect.
It's not faster, the interior is definitely cheaper and the silver ones started rusting on the transport (maybe the boat).

DEAL WITH IT!!!!!!!!

You have a great car one of the best ever made ya don't have to deny the good qualities of other great cars....like the STi.

and to be fair the some STi's are pinging, the seats suck (compared to the Recaros) and some of us are buying STi lowering springs to lose some of the "roll".

But we don't trash the EVO. It fact I flashed a peace sign to a EVO when I drove by him one Sat nite (I was driving my WRB STi)

can't we all just get along?

How does that make us sore losers, EJ25 boy? Stock to stock, the STi is faster in a straight line. As far as mod potential, the Evo's stock IC configuration and stock turbocharger will put a 4G63 into the high 11s. An STi is NOT going to do that on the smallish OEM ihiVF39. Upgrade the turbo and IC, then it will get really interesting. I still think the fully closed deck and iron block of the 4G63 will make more power, though, even with a .5 liter handicap. The STi [and all boxer motors] have a pre-turbo exhaust routing handicap that hampers spool characteristics.

I loved my WRX, but for me, it was a no brainer to go Evo rather than STi.

time will tell you make your choices and live with them. I don't think the STi will need a FMIC to make nice #'s though. Bigger IC/Turbo yup.
Like to see a Vishnu stage 3 vs EVO vishnu stage 3.

I just think it's a guessing game right now what the STi will and won't mod to.

BTW have you driven an STi?

I don't understand about this "better, more luxurious interior and a more real world car in the sti" argument that a lot of sti enthusiasts are claiming.

Last time I had 3 passengers in the back seat of my evo, they were all happy and comfortable with a tad bit room to spare in the"real world". But when I opened the rear door of my friend's sti, his 2 rear seat passengers had their knees touching their chests and it looked like they were squatting taking a dump? (They didn't look very happy and I don't see a way they could have fit a 3rd person back there without violating their sexual beliefs.)
Not much room back there for such a "luxurious and real world" car. And the blue material they used to cover the seats reminded me of "pimps up and hoes down" pimp fabric that looked nasty especially since it seemed like it was a magnet for dandruff flakes.

No flames here...just questioning why a lot of sti owners and a few evo owners think that the sti has the better interior?
I think the sti definitley has the better looking dash board.
But I think evo has the better seats, steering wheel, fabric material, AND most importantly usable space.
Is it just me who thinks that the evo interior is a lot more "real world" friendly and a hella lot less cramp feeling than the sti?
Can someone answer me why a lot of people tend to say that the sti interior is better than the evo?

please ...only peeps that have experience in both cars answer this one....

Here is my point of view about the comparison. I own an STi so I may be just as biased as you Evo owners lol. Anyway the Sti's topend is ok. But put an exhaust on it and its a night and day difference up top. I have a stealthback now and my topend really came alive. As far as the difference in handling. Sit as a passanger in both cars and you really won't notice a difference. When your driving its different cause the quick steering of the evo gives you the impression it handles better. Don't get me wrong. We all know the evo handles well. I am just saying the difference between the way the two actually handle number wise is very small. It's the driving "feel" that seems to be the difference.

finally an opinion that isn't attacking the EVO or STI, good job. But there are several people on this board that have driven both EVO and STI and they agree with the reveiws and say that the STI feels "squishy" compared to the EVO. I don't know this from first hand experience, but from several others. go and drive an EVO! haha

Back to the topic (hehe), do you think the EVO will pull better on the top-end after the S-AFC mod? I am thinking the STi can't get this mod because of pingin issues, so its EVO w AF controlloer vs. a stock STi. (we should have pink fonts just for our Impreza Rally brothers).
