I think we also need an unscrupulous/dishonest dealer list, just like we have list of dealers who were marking up Evos.

You don't need a list, every car dealer is dishonest.

I think you could/should fight them on it. It would cost you about $150 to get a lawyer to write a letter. You didnt sign that waiver that says you wont sue them when you bought the car, did you? Anyway a letter should get someones attention.........

Can an aftermarket clutch cause these problems?
Yes, it puts more stress on the rest of your drivetrain.

If installed properly, a quality clutch should disengage properly and work like stock, true or false?
I do read that many aftermarket clutches feel pretty bad, I'm not sure how so though since I've never driven a car with one.... ?

I'm not saying what they are doing is right but you'll probably have a hard time proving that the clutch didn't cause the problems

I think with the problems occuring within 3 days of the dealers' clutch replacement, you would have a pretty good case with a lawyer. The question isn't soo much about what is or isn't possible, but what's reasonable. Checking with a lawer might be quite a bit less expensive than the trade-in hit.

Voiding your warantee after the aftermarket clutch is typical. My dealer also said it would void it. But when shops do work on your car, the work itself is waranteed for at least 30 days on the work they performed, regardless of your bumper to bumper warantee. They did the work, they have to make sure the work is done properly and you are satisfied. If not, bring it back and make them correct what work they did. If anything else goes wrong in the future, it's your bill.

The point I was trying to make is that if the dealership did fix the tranny (properly) while under warranty, three days of driving even with an aftermarket clutch shouldn't have caused your problems.

If the 5th gear grind was down to your bad clutch, don't you think you would get grind showing up in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears first ?

I mean from a statistics point of view, 1st to 2nd shift and 2nd to 3rd are the shifts you are most likely to do ( especially on the freeway at rush hour or just around town ).

Nope, the dealer is just being a slimeball, 5th had a problem before, 5th has a problem now. Blaming it on the clutch is just an easy way out for them.

Sorry guys, forgot to inform...they fixed it with a smile! Im overly impressed with the final outcome, regardless of the anxiety attack they inflicted on me multiple times. All is good, they are good people there. Very good.

Read this:

Then read this:

I don't care for people that post general stereotypical anti-dealer statements to sound "cool."
