modifying a 2003 Evo
So i just recently blew my motor on my evo, and I thought I might as well start modding it since its out. Im looking to make round 480-500hp. Mine was making about 400 awhp according to the dealer I got it from. Performance parts that are on are hks 272 cams, megan racing turbo manifold, bigger front mount about 3 inches bigger. not sure what brand i'm afraid. and also what seems to be an evo 9 turbo pushing 20 psi. it was also untuned. any suggestions on what other mods I should consider getting ? thanks in advance.
Ch53 is right, car cant make 400 on a 9 turbo at 20psi, esp not on 93. Demon you're wrong about the cams, I know they hold the car back but I made well over 400 on those cams personally, although I was on e85 and did switch them out to get the most out of my turbo.
EVOVIII you live and you learn, its a super costly mistake, but if you have the money rebuild and do it right. If those are your goals then go with a full build (rods, pistons,ARP,etc) so you don't have to worry about the engine again.

don't think you can do the rebuild cheaply either. i'm doing a full rebuild and i'm only hoping for around 400 hp and i'm currently sitting at $7,500 after parts, machine shop, break in on dyno and tune. I pulled the long block and tranny myself as well and i'm disassembling everything myself. I didn't include getting my transmission rebuilt in that number either.
Rofl no way you were at 400 especially untuned. But your going to need GOOD bolt ons and definitely a turbo upgrade like an fp red or black to make that kind of power and probably e85
go 2.4l if the block is damaged. Much cheaper. Build the bottom end. Build the head too and be done with the motor. Drop the motor in and everything else is bolt on and relatively easy to change. I say spend the money on a good solid motor, possibly clutch too since you are right there. Also rebuild the trans if it grinded before. The rest you can change as you go unless you have tons of money to dump at one time. GET A TUNE
