constant white smoke when idling
So yesterday I went to a reputable shop and had my car looked at for a constant white smoke coming from the exhaust when idling and is very noticeable on hard acceleration. They said it could either be the head gasket or the valve seals on the exhaust side. Also when you smell the smoke it doesn't smell sweet like it would be coolant. Does this sound right or should I try something else first. Thak you in advance for your help.

They did compression and leak down test they said everything was perfect and I was wondering if it could be running leaning because I just up a new evo 8 turbo in a little while back and it seemed to do it right after I did that as well as loose peak boost pressure

White smoke is a pretty clear sign of a lean mixture especially considering it doesn't smell sweet and you've done a compression test... I take it you don't have an air/fuel ratio gauge, you should consider investing.

This i had the same problem at first i thought it was the turbo seal that went bad and after we checked the engine after all that and spending a bit over $1k to diagnose and not find anything i decided to trade it in for a new evo the dealer ended up cleaning the pcv valve and problem went away, i wish i knew about the pcv back then

hows the Coolant Reservoir? Do you lose any coolant?
Firstly, check if the coolant has any oily residue.
Use a rag to undo the radiator cap when the engine is warm… see if any small bubbles emerge… that can indicate a head gasket.
