APEXi Super AFC2 and 91 vs 94

Hi guys,

I'm trying to decide between the Buschur flash and his S-AFC2 kit. Cost is the same. I like the stealthy approach of an ECU reflash...but there's something that would make me lean towards the S-AFC2 kit: is it possible to save several "presets?"

For example, could I store 2 complete air-fuel maps? (Say, one for 94 octane and another for 91/92 octane if I'm forced to use that swill.) That way, you could easily switch back and forth. Or would I need to sit there and manually reprogram all the parameters each time?

Also, is there some way to save a password or something so people can't fool around with your settings?

Emre

according to Dave Buschur, the SAFC settings can remain the same. Its the boost that needs to be turned down when dealing with 91 octane. But to be sure, double check with him.

The S-AFC II has two settings you can use. Would let you store two fuel maps.

Cool! What about password protection?

That's very tempting, but I'd really like to have Buschur's settings.

Really? Then how come Dynoflash and others sell different flashes for 91 octane vs. 94 octane? I imagine that if the air-fuel maps were optimized for 94 you'd run into detonation trouble with lower octane gas, right? Or do the 94 octane flashes just give you more boost?

I obviously can't speak from personal experience, but theres one real obvious answer that comes into mind.

As i said before, Mr. Buschur mentioned that the boost level needs to be turned down, b/c the boost setting will be different in 91 octane vs. 94 octane

the Dynoflashes affect boost level.

Thus, the Dynoflash needs to be different according to octane.
