Clutch problems maybe??

I recently got a new clutch in my evo 8 mr. Im past my break in period and i decided to launch it for the first time with the new clutch last night so i revved it to 5k and dumped the clutch (fyi ive done this before with my old clutch with no problem) once i dumped the clutch the car sat there and the clutch was burning and the car would barely move i eased off the gas and the car started to take off. Why did it do that did the shop that put the clutch in not do it right?? What should i do. Like i said i would always launch the car like that with my old clutch and it would always grab right away no problem i need help please

dumping a clutch is a bad thing, the way you want to properly launch is acting like you're pulling your foot slowly out of dog ****.

Bad things happen launching like that. Learn to do it the right way or this will happen. Hope you didn't damage your transfer case.

Dang

According to the shop it was a high performance clutch. And like i said i would launch my car before with the old clutch when i would take it to the drag strip and this wouldnt happen. Also the shop took forever to change it out almost 2 weeks because supposebly the resurfaced the flywheels to thin and in the end they said that they were trying to put it in backwards thats why it took them so long to fix. Does anyone know what i should do?

What Brand/Model is that clutch?
You may not have bedded the clutch properly and it is glazed.
The only way to tell for sure is to pull the pressure plate off and look at the mating surface of the flywheel.
Again, what BRAND of clutch is it?

Yea, sounds like you had a ****ty install from a ****ty shop and that's what ruined it. Take it back to the shop and tell them to fix it.

Clutch job is a 1-day job, 3-day if they're sending out the flywheel to get resurfaced

Hehe. It should only smoking when the clutch is being slipped. The smell do linger for days.
Is this it?

I am not familiar with this clutch, usually people go with comp, exedy or act. sounds like a really bad launch attempt or just the clutch is not rated for your power/torque.
