How do I remove this interior panel? (Wideband install)

Hey guys! I am in the process of installing my AEM wideband and from all the how-to's ive read, this panel needs to be removed to get to the grommet going straight to the downpipe

I have been tugging at it for awhile, but I honestly feel like I'm about to break something. I have seen that it can be removed without having to remove the whole center console.

I am also open to the option of going a different route through the firewall if anyone has any pictures or suggestions!

Also If I do go through the route planned, will I have to cut the hole bigger to drop the sensor through?

Thank you!

I'm not sure on that panel, but you should be able to push the plug portion of the wideband through as opposed to the sensor

I know that panel comes off. Been so long since I done it. But the entire console comes out so easy. Should just need to remove the two screws inside the armrest and remove the shifter knob. Then pull it right out over the shifter.

My shifter knob is literally impossible to take off. It's the stock Evo 9 mr shift knob and I have cranked that thing so hard and still haven't budged it

You are not going to break anything. Just pull that panel from the bottom and you'll see white clips holding it.

I got the far clips to pop out, but now its stuck on the center console portion? Do I pull it at a certain angle? Its cold here in Idaho and the last thing I want to do is snap something in half by getting frustrated lol

Thumbs up

It has been a couple years since I did mine but I think there maybe a screw/clip in/near the ashtray IIRC. That may be your hang up. Once you get the console moved, smooth sailing from there, pop the grommet, and feed the wire plug end first from underneath since it will fit through the hole. Also, poke a decent hole or X in the grommet to keep crap out of your cabin. Good luck.

i believe the rear portion has tabs that fit into the center console. try gently lifting the rear portion and seeing if it moves.

I hadn't done this since I did my bushings but thankfully an old member had posted great steps on taking out the console many years ago:

Thank you sir! I got it off! The clips were just really on there lol.

So I plan on using that grommet location for the wideband sensor, but I did have one more question for you guys!

I bought the most recent AEM Uego, the 4110.

It goes...Sensor-------Male Plug to Female Plug---------------Gauge Plug

I don't want to have a ton of tire just hanging under the car, If I drop both wire sets through the grommet, I was hoping to have this...

Sensor--------Grommet-----Male Plug.

What do you guys recommend?

tuck the remaining wires under the dash and zip tire them out of the way. be sure to leave a little slack so when the exhaust moves it doesn't strain the sensor wires.
