I'm looking into eventually getting into an Evo IX or VIII. I was wondering what the best bang for your buck Evo was in your opinion?

I've owned both an VIII and IX. I am much happier with my IX, for many reasons.

 

I agree! You could try for a 05 RS too with ACD and a 10.5 hotside. I do love the IX, but you said best bang for the buck.

 

Currently in this same dillema. I hear the 8 tranny holds more power and is much stronger. Then again the 9 comes factory with more power along with ACD and MIVEC. Depending on your build would determine your car choice.

 

bcuz you said best bang for buck, the evo 8 without a doubt.
but i think i prefer the 9 over the 8, just because lol.

 

^the 5 speed tranny between 8 and 9 are essentially the same except for a slight difference in gear ratio. it is the 6 speed that has a weaker 4th gear.

If you plan on upgrading it alot and include rebuilding the motor then might as well go for the cheaper evo 8.
