Drive the car stock until you get a good feel of how it handles and decide from there weather or not you want more speed out of it. If you do decide to mod, one of the first things i would do is re arrange the stock differential (usdm models were put together wrong) or change to a 12 plate like the TRE etc.
When I started modding, I just wanted to get the most out the original setup without compromising any reliability. And I did it. I managed to get the most out of the stock setup without compromising too much reliability.
I actually just posted a thread similar to this last week some time and I finally came up that I'm going to mod it. my Evo has 12,000 miles and as much as I wanted to keep it stock and preserve it. why save it for the next person. have fun with it. I decided I'm just going to do Buschur racings pure power stage upgrade which will get you about 330+ whp. that seems like a pretty comfortable amount of power to me. I say mod it!!!

Figure out what you want to do with the car, figure out your budget and go from there. Properly modded once you keep the car sub 400wtq the reliability is going to be there without breaking the bank. Go above that and to keep the reliability.....
