Is it worth upgrading Cams?

Im in the market of buying cams, i currently have my eyes on the kelford 272. I was wondering if its even worth upgrading cams. The current setup on my 2003 evo 8 :

Garrett gt35r turbo
Tial external wastegate
AMS intercooler
Dynamics 1000cc injectors
K&N cold air intake
Upper and lower ETS piping
walbro 255 fuel pump
Grimspeed Boost controller
Omni 4 bar Map sensor
Tial BOV QR

I was also wondering power gain with upgraded cams. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, definitely worth it. You'll probably gain 25-50whp depending on how you're currently tuned, and what fuel you're using.

There's a magazine review on all the cams and what power gains, you'll find it if you search in here. Don't get to excited on big power gains and you don't get nothing for nothing, they also shift your power curve up higher and of course use more fuel

You will also have to upgrade your internals to use those cams as well... IE springs/retainers.

"We have NOT upgraded the cams yet, and this is a true example how not doing one thing can ruin the rest of the results. A simple cam swap in this vehicle would yield another 100WHP easily, and put this car well into the 700WHP category on a 3582R."

With a 35R variant you're going to really want a good cam to use that power band and help spool that turbo. I suggest GSC S2's (274) or Kelfords, as stated above it is highly recommended you upgrade your springs/retainers with a high lift cam.

When I first got my Evo, I was conservative and didn't want to mess with pulling off the valve cover and installing cams. Now I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I don't think the S2 cams from GSC need upgraded springs and retainers if you keep the RPMs reasonable.

Yes its worth it. Get some S2's or Kelford 272's. They work on the stock valvetrain when used within the stock rev limit

I have Kelford 272's and they may be my favourite upgrade to date. You'll feel the substantial difference once you get a tune dialled in.

I've been running the Kelford 272s for 30k miles now and it's been the best performance upgrade so far.

I'm running them with Supertech Single springs and retainers FWIW
