So whos going to buy this Brand New Evo 9 MR?
Its a rare day to see a CT9A here in MA, as long as I dont sneak into my garage
Given the number of bids I'd have to say it's legit. Sure the winning bidder could flake but at that point it'll be offered to the next highest. There must be some legitimate bids on there. Either way I was shocked to see it go over 100k and the fact that it almost got to 150k is pretty crazy I think.
Completely agree

That's what they all say!
I always wanted 2 evos 1 for DD and one as a track beast but had I seen this coming I would have changed that to 3 evos, 1 for DD 1 for track and 1 to just sit
How many cars with an entry cost of 36k can give you a 100k turnaround in 10 years?

If someone has the time, money and patience to wait for this Evo to gain value, I can see this as a sound investment for someone with a sizable car collection. I think an Evo in that condition will be well over 250k in the next 20 years, just look at the prices of a lot of the classic Japanese cars going to auction lately. The only real difference between this and say a Hakosuka, is the production numbers. Although the IX was only made one year, they still managed to pump out quite a few of them.
Would definitely be interested to see what the new buyer ends up doing with the car. I'm sure current Evo IX owners are rubbing their hands at the end auction price. Although this won't have a huge impact on the Evo used market, I can see it still affecting the price enough to see a fluctuation in the upcoming months.
Although I do miss my IX, for that money there are some serious cars that I would rather have.

A friend of mine makes a living on selling motorcycle parts on EBay. He just sent this to me.
"Did a little digging this morning on that mitsubishi auction you sent me. called my ebay rep to get bidding info. the whole thing is a scam with phantom bidders. didn't you see the bidding history? That was the key."

who are the other 10%? and most importantly, who won the bid?
some people may also have created ebay accounts to bid for the item
regardless of what it is, the promotion worked and the evo 9 legend status has been secured lol

Car collectors need to bid on ebay at a frequency of greater than once per month to be legit? I'm not a collector but my last activity/purchase on ebay was in the thousands of dollars range and it occurred several years ago. I'd probably need a new account if I wanted to bid/buy something today.
