Engine oil leak
That's what I was told, sounded odd to me as well, but seems from what you are saying that I may need a new oil filter, correct?
I am by no means an expert but from what I know if the oil filter was installed correct it should not leak at all. So I would suggest u check it see if the filter is on all the way on there nice and snug. If that dosnt work u will need to drain the oil from the pan remove the filter clean everything off properly inspect the housing and reinstall a new filter preferably making sure the gasket on the filter is fine and lubed with a little oil before reinstalling.

In a normal world the engine would not leak at all. How safe driving a vehicle with an engine leaking oil depends on how diligent you are at maintaining the proper oil level by adding oil. An engine with low oil is quickly ruined.
