Another clutch thread

Hi guys, I'm currently on the quest for a new clutch. All the previous threads are pretty outdated so I figured I'd start a new one to get more up to date opinions.

Anyways, I own and 8 which is currently 450whp and my daily. Clutch took a **** so need opinions now.

I'm looking at ACT's since they are affordable but there are multiple threads that state high RPM lockout issues and currently my car is tuned to rev out to 8k. Not sure if modern day ACT's still have this problem.

I know Exedy twin is a popular choice but the price tag is up there.

Not looking to make any more significant power gains.

So what do you guys suggest?

Just went through this with a similar power level . I picked up a QM street twin with the heavier flywheel and hydraulic TOB to be the best of both worlds with push style and no lockout problems. Had an issue with flywheel fitment and sent back to QM and picked up an exedy HD twin. Polished the legs like Jack's suggested and added a monoloc and it is smooth and quiet so far. Just got the QM back but not sure if ill bother putting it in. I think either would make for a solid DD clutch that will take abuse and handle more if you upgrade power later.

I'm at stock power, so keep that in mind, but i just installed a CC stage 2 with their lightweight flywheel. Also used an OEM TOB and ACT mono-loc for the high RPM lockout issue. Clutch feels like stock pedal feel and grabs nicely with no chatter issues. Cant complain at all. Just my $.02

ACT HDSS - Been at autocross for the past 2 and a half years every month at the least with it. Still going strong and never had a lockout issue. Previous 6 puck act clutch lasted 70k miles. In before all the twin disc's posts.

Comp Stage 3 ceramic holds great for me, love how it shifts. Just finished installing one in another Evo.

I'm at 480/400.

This is what I ended up going with. Seemed like the best for the $$ and the modern day ACT's don't have lockout issues anymore.

Guess we will see how it goes when it arrives

Thanks everyone!

Exedy Twin. Super reliable, Very street friendly and fairly quite for a multi disk clutch kit.
