We have someone on Facebook who is scheduling a local, peaceful, protest so as to work to repeal this law. It's suppose to be invite only. Who here wants to bet that it's going to backfire and a bunch of FWD high schoolers of some sort are going to show up and fart all over the scene, thereby justifying the new law entirely?

I just got a silencer for now until this "exhaust law" cools down a little. I don't drive like an *** and my car is completely stock except a Tomei Ti Expreme CBE, I don't like the silenced sound or reduced power feel but I just don't want to be bothered by cops just because they "feel" like my exhaust is louder than 95db

Out of state cars are out of their jurisdiction. Law only applies to ca registered vehicles newer then 1975.

wah muh rights to be loud as ****

i may be mistaken but i believe this was always the law. the difference is that most of the ricers would laugh it off as a joke for a "fix it" ticket. now they'll have to think twice since the fine is more than most of these guys exhausts are worth. and people in certain areas will be less likely to be woken up at 3 in the morning. what's your libertarian answer to that? shoot them?

if your car is louder than what this law indicates, you are a nuisance. i don't complain about a law about not being able to run around naked as hating on freedom. neither is this.

My answer is its none of my business...

People like to complain about the "police state", and this a prime example of said police state. You want the cops to spend time harassing people because you lost 5 minutes of sleep because a loud car drove by your house, or do you wan them to do real police work like, look for DUI's, catch reckless drivers (I know more people that dirve like idiots in stock cars than modded ones LOL), respond DV calls or general calls for assistance (like a traffic collision) faster, etc...?

it is if you live in an apartment complex and that kind of **** can set off car alarms, wake people, etc. again, wanting LEO to make nuisances go away is not "hating on freedom" the rest of your comments assume that LEO are at max capacity of work. that's false. the fix-it was a ****ing joke. now people have to pay attention and put a muffler on their 1992 honda civic

http://www.industrialnoisecontrol.co...e-examples.htm

here is 95db btw. if your car is between a 737 and a jet taking off, you are a ****ing nuisance.

In our apartment complex, it's the Harley Davidson's that wake us up nice and early. Those won't get penalized though because of ('merica) unfortunately. Trust me, I don't like any car that is louder than it needs to be to make a certain power (AKA most ricers), however, I do think this is a ticketing effort led by spite. It's a way to take away more money from people rather than it is to teach a lesson and some of us DO deserve it, but not so much that it needs to be yet another distraction from the real criminals out there. I feel like it should be a "add on" ticket, like if you get pulled over for speeding or driving like an idiot. Not THEE reason to be pulled over.

motorcycles are loud as **** but i don't think there's anything you can do about that one, idk what the aftermarket exhaust industry is like there. also way less common. the furor about this will die down after a couple of months, only dickhole cops would be pulling over for this after that. the law never changed, only the punishment.

It's California, cops there are dickholes. They already used to pull people over only for potential equipment violations. This is not going to "die down".

Their not all that bad. As an example, over the last 10 years i have been pulled over by the Sherrifs dept, in my EvO, approx 4X.

Each time, except for once when i was boosting hard, was pulled over, just because EvO. Maybe its the old white guy behind the wheel, i was let go & not even hood popped.

Now, the CHP is a diff matter. I dont trust those boys too much at all

hearing damage begins at 85db (AFAIK), so are we going to argue that people should have the right to go around damaging peoples hearing? The reason we need "Dont be an *******" laws is because we have a whole bunch of *******s in our society.
