Oil filter housing questions

I have an evo 8 with an evo 9 filter housing. Im trying to figure out the best way to do all this. I am going to add an aem pressure gauge. would it be best to put in a filter sandwich, find an adapter for one of the plugs or something else? Also in order to plug the oem sensor hole, what is the threading?

Im running the same AEM setup & i chose, out of being lazy, to do the sandwich. Its not the way our purists will advise as it does space down the filter & is a bit of sore thumb hanging down. Dont do what ive done LOL

Not sure about the thread type?

stm sells the lines that screw into the plug holes.

You can take out one of the plugs on the OFH and use this line to connect the Oil pressure gauge.

You need to order a 3/8" BST male to 1/8" NPT female adapter and install it in the port shown below.

The Evo 9 has an 1/8 NPT hole on the filter housing for the OEM sensor location (your Evo9 should have the oil pressure switch on the block). Just use that. 1/8 NPT to -4an, 4an hose to the sensor with the AN adapter fitting on it.

The simplest way would be to use a direct adapter 1/8" NPT to 1/8" BSP: https://www.mcmaster.com/1786N127/
Here's the 3/8" BSP to 1/8" NPT, which is probably the port I'd use: https://www.mcmaster.com/1786N244/

Many people will recommend remote-mounting the sensor to extend its life though, since vibration can affect them. In that case, the AMS line would make it easiest. The sandwich is the last route I'd take.

Folks, reread what the OP stated. This is the best answer right here. IX OFH already has an NPT port for the oil pressure switch. He said he has an VIII so that should already be on back of his block hence unused port with no adapter necessary. I'd still remove mount it but no BSPT to NPT needed.

I mounted the sensor directly to the oil filter housing using the $5 adapter (3/8" BST Male to 1/8" NPT female). The $40 remote mount kit says that by not mounting on the housing it extends sensor life, but not sure I have seen any data to support this claim. My original sensor lasted from 2007-2019 before it starting intermittently cutting out so I replaced it with a new one. Just a note on the NPT hole on the OFH, it is located directly across from the CV axle and you have ~2.25" of clearance from the hole to the axle.
