Unfortunately the doglegs on my rear windows have rusted at the base of the trim where it meets the horizontal beltline trim. (excuse the pollen, it's April in the south)
Not entirely certain what I'll find once I dig the tape off of these but it'll be nothing good.
I'll probably grind off the remainder of the rot and POR-15 the remainder, bondo inside if needed. Once the new door tape's there it should be protected.
Any notes on removing the rear trim? I've found all sorts of front but nothing about the back door window.
Strangely it's just the upper door frame. The bottom of the doors by the weep holes and pinch welds are fine. And it's on both rear doors, so it's unlikely it was something just plugging a drain as it's in the same spot in two areas. : /
I would sand it down and use an expoxy based paint to seal it up. I wanted to remove the trim vinyl and repaint it gloss black anyways.
Pretty close to the plan - but I'm going to treat the inevitable holes and cavities with POR-15 and putty smooth. Once the tape's on it'll cover most of the imperfection - I just don't want any further rot once it's sealed.
Damn curious as to where the water ingress came from.
