Oil light.

I have developed a problem with
the oil light flickering whilst driving.
It isn't on all the time just flicks
on/off annoyingly.
The oil was changed 6 months ago
and the level is correct.
Has anyone any ideas as to what I
can do to rectify the fault please ?
2005 Evolution 8.
Thank you......Al.

Yea, if you believe you have good oil pressure, try and swap the sensor.
I had a similar failure on mine where when the car was hot, the oil light would flicker on and off at idle. I have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge and was able to confirm no change in the actual oil pressure at idle so I knew I just had a bad sensor. Swapped it with a cheap one from rockauto and the flicker is gone.

Get a harbor freight mechanical oil pressure testing gauge and a sandwich adapter for the oil filter. Plumb one of the adapter ports to the gauge. You could be loosing your oil pump. Pressure will drop when oil is hot and oil pump clearances have worn.

This is good advice too. You could probably just pull the oil light sensor and grab pressure there to test as well.

That said, the sensor was like $5 I think. Pretty easy thing to swap to check.
