Hey gang,
I bought a wrecked evo 9. I am coming from the r8/gallardo platform with minimal understanding of e85 and turbo power. With that being said I always wanted an Evo and I finally found a salvage nightmare that is perfect for my style.
2006 evo 9 5 speed, I thinks a GSR
186k miles lol
intercooler
oil catch
cams
e85 and 91 tune
factory turbo
runs like crap.
Rebuilding this on my YouTube channel, EdGasket. I posted this earlier but I think it was deleted. Maybe because I shared my YouTube link? Not sure. Anyway, someone tell me what im into!
Looks like it was a beauty in its prime. A big issue is when there is any kind of frame damage its always 10x worse than how it looks on the outside. The evo is also unibody and quite rigid for its kind so it doesn't take to impact kindly. The damage looks similar to my old evo and I can tell you may find crumpled sheet metal/bent rail all the way to the rear seat area, or not it depends on what the car hit, speed ect.. as said above you will likely need to go searching the marketplace for used parts as many are getting discontinued.
Im interested to see how far the damage went. Im all for saving an evo as these cars are so rare these days already. It just seems like the evo 8/9 was one of the most totaled cars ever when talking about any one model.
I’m on the other end, I want to get into a Gallardo/R8 but not in the cards for me yet.
Check out JackBuildsIt on YouTube. He picked up an Evo with front end damage and talks about what pieces he was able to scalp from a lancer. Keep an eye out for evo parts in the Facebook groups and your local Craigslist/facebook for cars/parts.
I almost won a Murcielago at the auction last year! If I remember correctly it sold for $85k. The only one that I can afford is the E-gear. The manual Murci brings a fortune! Parts are much harder to find and interestingly the craftsmanship isn't as high as the cars that Audi had their hand in.

first check that the block is not cracked, as it likes to do that with front impacts.. the rest will be a game of finding parts that are sort of affordable..
I would hit up Chris Barnett/B&M Performance and see if he can get you a front clip, or complete shell that was hit in the rear or side only.
Looking front here you need replace everything forward of the strut towers. But it'll need to go on a frame machine first to see if the strut towers also moved.
