I thought ath over a certain amount was a felony. I guess I was wrong. Here anything with 3 digits in the speed, they impound your car and haul your *** to jail.

Lucky he didn't hit a moose or deer, that would have been it for him!! Have to look out for them up there, moose are 700-1000 lbs of solid meat, hit one going that fast and it's game over.

The biggest problem with blowing by a cop at 146mph is not the act itself, you're essentially gone. Its pissing off a lonely popo by making him drop his free coffee all over himself. Here in NY I've heard that they don't chase you over 100 so essentially if the officer really feels like its a slap in the face for you to be doing that on his territory half of the time people make it away. As for doing 146 on a public road at 8:30... thats just plain stupid.

That part of I-89 is flat, straight, and deserted. The south bound lane can not see teh north bound lane, oh, and the speed limit is 65, not 55 as the title indicates...not that it really matters!

Anyway, I wasnt there, so I am in no position to judge, but if the road was as it so often is up there, completely baren, and without other cars, I really see no reason not to lay the hammer down. The only person he endangers is himself. It is no more dangerous than doing 146 on the autobahn. Obviously if there were other cars around, there is no need to be doing that.

That portion of the road is in great shape actually, the area between Burlington and Montpelier is a hazard at 50mph right now!

I live north of Milwaukee, WI and I was clocked doing 112mph in a 35mph limit. Luckily the cop was cool and let me off with a verbal warning(didnt even look at ly liscense). She just told me i was driving like an idiot. I was only 17 at the time too, but it was more like 2 a.m. on a weeknight, not 8:30 on a friday.

A local guy here got a $7500 ticket for going 150mph. I think he got his bike impounded and got a free room for the night.

"You can do 146 mph," Sweeny said, "but you're never going to outrun a radio."

Like Duh!. This is what those "young bucks" just can't get it inside their heads. Okay, you can go so fast, but they have radios. they will get you at the end, and he was on his way to a race track. Sorry if I offend anyone by saying, that this are the kind of people that gives us (car enthusiast) a bad name. Why do you think that the cops always hassle us for mediocre stuff like exhaust etc.? They(popos) have it in their minds that "we" are all reckless. So since they have a hard time catching us, they have an easier time hassling us.
