I think he got off lucky with the fine and whatnot, i was thinking he would be in jail... that's cool though that the cop couldn't catch up. however, it's not cool to speed like that on the streets, thank goodness no one was hurt or anything

I got radared doing 145 mph on I5....
north bound to SF. It was 1:00 AM driving my CLK55 and nobody is on the freeway. The cop wasn't a CHP. It was one of those local cops in Coalinga. And the wife is in complete silence after seeing those christmas lights at the back.
Cop: Do you know how fast were you going?
Me: Yes officer, I was over speeding. I was doing over 135 mph.
Cop: I clocked you at 145 mph. License, insurance, and registration please.
So I gave the stuff he wants and he didn't even ask me to turn off the car. After almost 5 or 7 minutes(I can't believe it took him that long to do the citation), he was at the back of my car looking for something under. And I say to myself, what the hell is he doing. He came back and asked me if I have a legal aftermarket exhaust. I told him it's all stock from AMG. I read the citation after telling me to sign the ticket and I saw he only wrote me down for 99 mph. I signed the ticket, gave me the copy, and he told me to drive below 75. I told him, yes sir it won't happen again. After one month I got the fine, it's $295 and I was allowed to do traffic school. And check this, on-line traffic school.
After that I never do those kinds of speed anymore. Just take it to the race track. Lesson learned.

evo55, I may do a lot of stupid things, but driving over 100 with the wife in the car ain't one of them. She starts getting nervous over 80, and even then I'm thinking it's disrespectful. Glad you learned the lesson...

With "instant on" the radar detector won't help him unless there's other traffic on the road. The cop won't pop up on the detector until it's too late.

I live near Burlington, VT and I saw that article in the paper. Not a smart thing to do.
Was he driving a Red Evo? I own a Red Evo and I don't want people thinking it was me that did this.

I ride a ZX12R which is modified and well capable of doing 200mph, if I weren't so heavy (240+ lbs). Now...I got caught doing 118 in a 55 and I sat in the back of a cop car while the three officers on scene decided my fate. It cost me almost that in court fees and fines, and I could've done jail time. A $767 ticket is LUCK.

Im under the impression that doing anything over 100 gets you a free night with a hooker named "Bubba"...
But this is California over here, and cops enjoy spreading our cheeks.
