evo ix cam install
Exhaust side is identical to a VIII. Doing the intake side on the IX is only slightly different than the exhaust side of a VIII. The only difference is needing a 14mm allen to remove the cover on the MIVEC gear. And removing a 14mm cam gear bolt (IIRC) instead of the usual 17mm of the VIII. Other than that, not much different.
The mivec cam gear is sitting on there much tighter. After you've loosened the bolt, you will have to "tap" the gear off. At least that's what we had to do with mine. Otherwise it's the same process.
yeah, you have to get the oil out or you'll spill.. also when done.. remember to start the car with out the coil plugs in, so you can buil preassure into that cam gear again.. letting some oil get in there..

I guess I have to get in it to see where's the oil gonna come from.
Man, I really need to get a manual for the evo 9.
Oil will come out of the inlet cam gear. Yeap! From inside the cam gear!
Think like opening the cap (not the bolt) of the inlet cam gear like taking out the oil cap of your valve cover.
Also, make sure you do not spill oil over your timing belt!

definitely ,, keep a rag in under there and do many wipes to try to get as much out as possible so while ur working not spills on belt. If you do get a drop or two,, wipe it off.. probably won't hurt nothing, but to much will
