Throttle Cable Relocation Mod!

Disclaimer...this will be the easiest DIY ever posted BUT it is a worth while mod. Please do at your at discretion, risks, etc

Throttle Cable Relocation Mod (5-10 minutes at most!)

Tools:
-10mm socket & wrench

Directions:
-Remove the 2 clips holding down the throttle cable with the 10mm socket
-Remove the clips from the cable
-Follow steps 1,2, and 3 in the picture below

Picture without direction so you can see the cable better:

Tips: The bolt on the firewall is in the same spot as the one on the valve cover, just back on the firewall, so if you look at the bolt on the valve cover and then go back to the firewall it'll be there.

Looks easy enough!

So, there's no difference in throttle feel at all? I would assume since you're creating a new bend in the cable that there might be a little extra resistance actuating the pedal?

None, I hope!

It doesn't have any negative effect so far and there are 5-10 others that posted the same mod and they've had their relocated for 2+ years in some cases. If you look at the engine bay thread you'll notice a lot of people have done this. Also, because all you're doing is using the stock bracket, you can also remove the cable from the bracket and put it back in place if you want.

In addition, the bents using this route is not restrictive or "sudden" so the cable is able to move just as nicely. Here are some quotes of other members who modded theirs. Most noticeable in this list is SmikeEvo who is a Mod and Track junkie. He tracks his car pretty often and he has this mod and said it's not a problem!

you arent crimping the line, you are simply moving it to the back.... it literally took me 10 minutes if that

Some more samples of other member's comments regarding this mod:

The cable bracket from the valve cover was relocated to the solenoid on the firewall. I also zip tid the cable to the wire harness on top of the intake to cut down on movement. I have a couple of paint chips from where the bracket was, but not too bad.

Its possible that relocating it could increase the friction and cause it to wear out faster. But if routed well and no sharp bends there should be no issues.

2.pay attention to where the cable connects to the throttle body, that should also go in very straight at the end....

goodluck!

I'm sorry...what's the advantage of this mod? I'm unsure where I should be looking for on the before/after pics.

Maybe you shouldn't be looking at this mod then? It's to make it so your throttle cable doesn't go across your valve cover. The way it's mounted looks tacky and this mod helps alter that to make the engine bay looks cleaner.

I guess this thread, can be a little misleading, b/c when people hear..."mod" they think, this is going to add power or help something, whereas this is just for aesthetics.

lol true but it's still a modification to your car...I know it's not a huge difference but it's the little details that makes every car just that much better. I didn't know how much that thing annoyed me until I moved it

Cool! I think I am going to try this. The cable never really bothered my there however if it causes no issues in the new location then its a no brainer to me. It def looks much cleaner tucked away! Nice work!

I did this 4 years ago. ZERO problems whatsoever. I also removed all of those metal tubes sitting on the corner of the valve cover. ZERO issues as well. And mine is daily driven.
