Wastegate by-pass

Hello,

Met a cool guy with an STi today and he showed me a by pass of his wastegate...he said that his car makes steadily around 17 p.s.i. but he can't hold it there for no longer than 2 seconds or his ECU will shut down fuel to the vehicle for safety purposes. Anyways i was wondering if we (Evo Owners) can pull this trick off...he said you just pull off the 2 hoses from the the wastegate timer...and he said to connect them...that is allowing the wastegate and the ECU to think its open all the time instead of closing itself...i was wondering if we could pull something off considering we already run alot of boost??

Thanks ,
Leo

It scalled open boosting, VERY dangerous, especially on a turbo that will make 28PSI and blow your engine,

The STi is doing it until the ecu interjects with a fuel cutoff, it's not a good thing.

The STi also has a TINT TINY turbo, it is equivalent to a 13B, and boost falls off so fast as the 2.5 is too big an engine to inflate to double digit boost levels in the upper RPMS. It even falls of on a 2.0 motor, tiny, but you are safe from over boosting.

The way to do it is to make the wastgate vacume line bleed to atmosphere allowing you to boost longer and more

My stock EVO 1 boosts at 11psi, after I made the mod It now boosts at 15psi

It involves a brass "T" piece and some pipes - real cheap to make and very effective

Hope this helps
