spring install

before you flame, I did a search, and got nothing, although I am sure I missed it somehow.

question is, do I REALLY need a spring compressor to change the springs on the suspension? I am used to working on dc5 integras, and you do not need them on that, they are under very little tension. If I don't have to get a spring compressor, that would be great,

I just installed an eibach pro-kit this weekend. I would say you def need one for the fronts, the rears you dont need one, just be careful.

I don't want to flame you but... YES use a spring compressor! The springs are under a decent amount of stress. Remember its better to always error on the side of caution when working with stored energy. Better to be safe than sorry. Plus you can rent a spring compressor very inexpensively from Autozone.

Autozone and O'reillys don't cost anything to rent a spring compressor. All you have to do is put a deposit down. If you're strong enough to push the springs down when putting under the top hat (especially for the front struts)-you need to enter the world's strong man competition.

I just did Tanabe GF210s and YES you need on for the fronts. I picked a set a the local parts store for $35 dollars. The rear springs you won't need one though. Even though I compressed the fronts good, they still had a little tension. Here is the link that I used to install with:

YES YES AND YES!
I used spring compressor from autozone(its free rental)
One of compressor failed during compressing and spring hit between my eyes. I didnt have eye protection and I was so close to losing my eye.
I bled few drops of blood and thank god no problem to my both eyes.

Make sure you wear eye protection and becareful

autozone has free rental but you have to pay full price when you rental and u get your full money back when you return.

advance auto parts rents them as well for like 50 bucks. you definitely need a compressor to take the old ones off, not to reinstall them though. Even when your using a spring compressor to take the old ones off, there is still a possibility for them compressor tools to slide the side and explode in your hands. Ive had this happen in the past, and either way, your not out any money when your done, and you walk away with no broken bones and both eyes
