Lol I had forgot about those. Didn't remember that the boots slide down on the coils. Thanks.

I did the DIY coils with Honda Civic coils from 01+ part number 673-2302 denso part number 099700-070. Brand new they are $130 total shipped.

You have to remove the inner rubber liner on the coil pack so it will actually go over the spark plug.

I had to make a bracket to hold the coils down. I lined it with thin rubber under neath to hopefully keep vibrations from letting the bracket chew into the coil packs. I was able to remove the rubber seal from the coils and silicone it down around the spark plug opening on the valve cover to keep crap out. (It still seals around the coil pack even though it now goes around it at a lower point).

All in all not a real hard mod to do, this thread was helpful, especially with the wiring - the wiring pictures / info / diagrams in this thread was great!

Attaching picture of the setup and the coil packs themselves....

EDIT: Somewhere I read something inaccurate, but it wasn't in this thread.

Does it say anywhere in the thread that the existing coil pack holes can be used? I don't think I've ever seen any aftermarket individual coil packs that will bolt up to existing holes and not need some sort of mounting plate

I think your right about it not being in this thread. I'm looking for the thread where I read that now (thinking it wasn't evom?). After actually paying attention to where the stock mounting locations were when taking the stock coils out, I could see that wasn't going to happen- for obvious reasons.

in 20 years of modding cars i have never once had a mod solve so many drivability issues. thanks to whoever thought this was a good idea. here is my 90080 19015 rig. yep its an ugly mess. modded and beat by many but it's rust free and i'm debugging it now .

BTW.. just thought I'd mention, you can use the Honda (denso) coils and put your stock cover back over them. You have to rig something up to hold the coils down... in my case it was as simple as silicone-ing some square foam blocks under the stock cover that are about 3/8" thick to hold the coil springs compressed onto the plugs. This makes for a clean setup...

that's a good ghetto (but still good) idea, just make sure you're using foam that wont degrade / melt over time from heat

Demon is correct. I used Honda coils and got the connectors with pigtails from chasebays. Very cheap setup as I made my own mounting plate from scrap and bought some longer bolts from the local hardware store

I did the same and put 4 spacers under the cover with taller 10 bolts and it has a nice stock look

Yea the coils sit pretty high so I wanted to take up that space without using spacers or washers so I just used a 1/4" thick plate

Yes, those are the connectors. You'll need to check with the factory coil to make sure that the orange insert will fit. I know spoolinup uses the orange insert, however theirs don't have the ears coming off of it to separate each pin. Just make sure the factory plugs have a slot for those ears to go into, otherwise you won't be able to use them

Yes that was my issue when i saw them, the 2 plastic locating pins appear too large for the JDM/ADM female loom plug. Do you guys have the same plug as us? This is on my 9

The connector shown here appears to have 2 larger slots for those pins http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...oducts_id/1781
