I am very curious about the size of the wires. Does it matter if I got 16 or 18 or 20?

I make setups for locals and use 18awg military-spec tefzel wire

you can use 20awg if you want, but the normal +12v wires on toyota's are 18awg

normal 18awg wire is too large for the insulators so if you want to use 18awg it'll need to be thin walled wire

Do cop kits for evo 9 work on the 8? Is it just the mounting point of the plate cover that are different?

Yes, just the mounting plate is different. Kits for the 8 will not work on the 9 though without modification

A 9 plate will work on an 8 with no modification. The mounting points are the same.

Can anyone recommend an insulated wire wrap that will stop the interference to my radio? I only have it wrapped in electrical tape and the interference is pretty bad.

correct; the only difference between the two is the evo 9 has some notches that need to be cut to clear the valve cover. 9 plate will work fine on an 8, but 8 plate will not work on a 9 without modification

Are you sure this is what's causing it? unless something was wired wrong there's nothing in this setup that should affect the radio. maybe a ground for the radio came loose or something?

I'm pretty sure, it didn't have feedback before I put in the coils.
I'm going to try wrapping them in foil to see if that does anything.

Try shielded wire, like twisted shielded pair.

Are these genuine Denso? I've tried a few sets of coils in the past and had some interference with Denso knockoffs. There are some fake Denso coils out there that look EXACTLY like the real thing too, except they perform like garbage!
