thats a good question... how is the sound quality with the interface? I know with the RCA jacks you get distortion and weird buzzing sounds at times

I have my Alpine HU hookep up to my Ipod using the analog wires? that plugs into the Ipods speaker hole and the sound quality sucks when you turn it up...you can hear distortion
the interface unit has a cable that connects to the sync input, it is not through the headphone jack. this way not only is the sound quality as good as an mp3 player can be, but it also controls the unit. from my headunit i can scroll through paylists and use all the functions of an ipod. song info as well. there is no sound distortion at all

Since no one is answering my thread on this issues, maybe I can include it in this one. I have the upgraded Infinity sound system with the sub, and just put in an aftermarket Kenwood unit so that I can plug my iPod in directly. Has anyone else run into a problem with hooking an aftermarket head unit to the factory amp that powers the sub? I was told that I either need a custom wiring harness to still use the factory amp or need a new amp. Right now the sub in unplugged and I am not very happy about that. But I want to make sure the shop I used isn't trying to milk me either. Thanks.
