um yes this is a 4dr is it not? also the only bars that could "possibly" be harmfull is the one next to the b pillar..but thats why they make seatbelts. I thinnk it sohuld be fine...only people who ride back there are my freinds and they know the consequences if i did(knock on wood) get ina wreck. but rarley i ever have people back there

lol you dont have to wrap all of the bar.. just the bar that run down to the ground in between the 2 door along the seats...i was thinking about it when i was in my car and it seems IF A HEAD WAS TO BANG OF THE BAR...it would most likely be that bar becuase already your head is 2-4 inches away and the harness/seatbelt keeeps you from going foward..but nothing keeps your head from going left into that bar...just some food for thoughts...when i get my cage thats probably where im gonnna put the foam

Rollbar padding is, IIRC, meant to protect a helmeted head. It's not going to do much for you if you're not wearing a helmet.

So... i understand that he bought this for bling -- no issues. However, DON'T try to justify this as having anything to do with cars performance. It has NONE. I will put a $100 front sway bar up against this cage, and I will guarentee you the sway bar shows a peformance gain, and the cage shows NONE. Heck, I don't know how many times autoXing that I have banged my helmet on my B-pillar in a spin situation. IFF you spin in real life.... good luck.

This cage != performance. Don't kid yourself. If you want it for show, that's fine. However, it makes your car NON-street legal, and if you take this to a track day sanctioned by a REAL governing body and try to COMPETE (not HPDE).... good luck. You will still need a roll bar.

Hey, to each his own though. Enjoy it.

Now, if you want to start talking about harnesses, if you dont get a 6point (anti-submarie) you are wasting your time. Also, if you dont get some form of HANS and a HANS helmet at the same time -- you are also wasting your time (*for function). Doing these things WRONG can actually INCREASE you chances of getting hurt WORSE.

alot of you guys have alot of opinions that I can tell are not gorunded in any sort of fact....I hope this is not the direction this board turns to, as it's been the demise of more than one enthusiast forum. Last thing we want is another clubsi.

I would HIGLY recommend foam padding on the areas that are near your extremities...not the rubber cage "wrap", but actual foam padding.

Adam, It may be "D1" approved but it's of no relationship to FIA. Since you're focused on facts please let us know what series it's approved for.

CR-mo cages aren't allowed in SCCA anymore not because of the thickness of the wall but because the chassis has to be properly annealed after welding a CRmo cage into the chassis, a process whose quality cannot be controlled or verified by a technicial inspector on site.

FYI- If a cage is FIA approved it's automatically grandfathered into SCCA. SCCA no longer allows the use of CR-Mo cages so essentially all of your previous posts are invalid.

Like I said, the cages are D1 approved, and there are some varients (the cages come in a variety of types from Cusco) are also FIA approved according to what Cusco has told us. Not all FIA approved cages are SCCA approved from what I've gathered....if that has changed, then I certainly stand corrected.

Chromoly is not allowed on cars being built now, but if the car had it installed prior to the rule change, they are still permitted...at least that is what our local rep told us when we made the inquiry for our 2 cars (BMW's), both of which have chromoly cages that were done several years ago

What did I post in that thread that was wrong?

Man... I thought the amount of space in a stock evo was a little lacking... Looks like I wouldn't enjoy a ride in that evo... Looks too stuffed, for a lack of a better word
