Evo 9 SE
with the se the only incentive for buying the mr is for the 6 spd. for the 3k you save you can buy better coilovers and the vg if you wanted it. the se is everything i wanted: hid w/ fogs and bbs rims. the lip and the aluminum roof are a plus, the red stitching i guess it accentuates the seats and it's definitely growing on me, a lot more than the look of the 06 sti - one which only a mother could love. not to mention the se is now the second lightest evo.
in addition i really like the ability to control the hid height level, it's so sweet =)

lol, I get that a lot too. All the uneducated people always ask me if I got an MR when I tell them I have an evo. Then when I tell them no, they get all disappointed and tell me I really should have gotten the MR. I had one guy telling me that its like night and day how much faster the MR is and when I told him they have the same HP, the MR just has a 6 speed trans, He then told me that even though the engines have the same hp, the 6 speed trans makes it have way more hp.
I just walked away after that.

It's a hit and miss with me on the opinion of the SE.
The package seems like a great value, especially if you don't want to fork over the MR money. The lip is kinda cool, I guess. The price definitely makes this an attractive deal!!! Although, I think they should have changed a little bit more to be able to call it an SE. Give it some more performance pieces and it will definitely be special.
The color of the rims is just bleh. They should have kept the regular colored BBS wheels. Otherwise decent package for a somewhat small premium.

I would have loved to get a nice light (but not RS stripped) Evo with HIDs, aluminum roof, BBSs, without having to go with a package like the SSL.
I just can't get past the way the new front lip looks like with that indent. Killed the clean IX lines.

Judging from the photos, I think the SE wheels look better on GG than the standard MR wheels. This sucks, because I plan to get a standard MR in GG ...

for the wheels, roof, HIDs, and stitching ... looks nice to me. I agree with the comments about the lip. The little dip on the side kills the look of it. I really like the way the nose area looks though.

PA, I just got the GSR SE a week ago, and I got the same responses from people too. Everyone would ask me if it's an MR after knowing I got an evo. Then after I told them, they would say, "Well, it's not too bad already, afterall it's an evo, congrat anyways." Those comments just made me ponder if I made the wrong choice. But everytime when I saw my car and drive it, all the excitment and happiness just came back. The car looks so hot and is so quick. Who cares what they say, especially they don't own an evo themselves.
