Evo 9 SE
Yes, for most people it wouldnt be worth buying a new SE just to get the SE package. For me, coming from an 03, it was worth buying it because its a IX which is a nice upgrade over the 03. Since I was already getting the IX, it was worth it to me to get the SE package since I didnt want to lose my HID headlights but didnt want the SSL and I like the other add-ons a lot as well.
I am just trying to figure out why so many people feel the need to come on here and bash the car when theres nothing bad about it. For me it wasnt worth paying the extra for the MR but I am not going to bash it because the people who bought an MR felt it was worth it for them.

well for us already owning an evos, its really not worth upgradeing to this. a lip, wheels and different seats can all be obtained cheaper then buying a new car. maybe for current 9 owners they can go and try getting that package installed, but as i said imo its not worth it.

it's like an MR without the 6-speed or bilsteins for $5-6K less. i would've bought it if those features were available in 05.
i personally believe that the se is a incrdible package and well value...think about it xeon hids are 1k alone....the thing i hate is that they should have put in the vortex generators, the wickerbill on the wing and and the sports meter kit along with all the other mr goodies w/o the bilsteins and 6speed for that price and then building only 500 of them and badge them....
Vortex Gen. is like a $120 part, and you can install it in 5 minutes, so I'm not too concerned about that. I'm very happy with my SE, got almost all the performance boost of the MR, and paid less. Plus I can't *stand* the finish on the MR BBS wheels, but I like the silver SE ones.

Car companies always do this crap... slap some badges on that say "special edition" come and buy it and charge more for the same damncar they shoul have improved the dash board and made and auto version.

Considering what is included in the package, I think the SE is nice. For me the important part was getting HID's,but I don't care for the sunroof or leather seats in the SSL package. If the SE came in white I would have definitely bought one. It didn't, so I bought a GSR instead.
There are very bitter comments about the SE, I have a gsr TB IX and when i saw the SE I felt in love all over again, For example I could use the aluminium roof and the HID's, Heck the BBS rims are awesome as well. I think those are the main things that all GSR should come equipped with...overall the SE is still an evo man, show some love for those who have it. I would trade up for one because adding HID's, and any set of rims is almost equal to the 1300-1600 package. I give a for this package. I also give a big for the new TB evo IX MR...pure sex man.

The EVO IX GSR SE is totally worth it... especially for the rims and the nice simple lip...now juts to add on the aluminum roof, hids, and the nice red "JDM look" stiching!! yes to MR owners its no biggie...
But dont know what the hype is about the MR... when i tell people i drive an evo they are always like "ohhh u got an MR???" and im like no its the gsr... and they are like "ohh u should of got an MR" people act like the MR is like the fastest trim an its sooo special!!when its not..... the SE is cool... its got everything an MR has except a gay 6spd tranny!! My IX 5spd tranny gears are soooooooooooooooooooo freaking dayum short that i couldnt picture my self shifting thru the 6 gears in an MR!!
My car makes over 455whp... and shifting thru the short gears in the 5spd tranny sux alot!! thats why i think that for a str8 line street car, the 5 speed tranny is the way to go!!.... and the SE gives you all the little extras AND the 5 speed tranny.. for only like $1500 more!!

Well the only sell point for an MR SE to me is that it is black.....the only black MR
