personally I'd rather shell out the money for the 6speed which is just a much nicer tranny, contrary to what all the envious 5speed owners would like to say.
unless of course you like to track the car. if so the 6-speed is much weaker
this coming from a non-envious 06 mr owner

if you drag race, then yes the 5 speed is a better choice. You're highly incorrect to call it "much" stronger... are you forgetting the infamous TC issue with the 5speeds? Sounds like you are.

As for any kind of road racing (which lets face it thats what evolutions are truly built for)... The 6speed is highly preferred by many well established professionals.

This debate could go on forever but, the 5speed is only slightly stronger, and much less smooth / well balanced.

I guess you have not been reading the threads on the SE, you left a few things out.

HID head lights and fog lights

BBS wheels (great looking rims)

Lip (nothing special, but looks good)

Seats (red stiching)

Roof (aluminum)

SE Badge (I was thinking of taking it off)

Three colors only black, gray, or silver I picked the gray, it sets off the BBS rims

What has changed from the 05 VIII to the 06 IX. I'll let some one else chime in.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the other evos had these options, besides the front lip, SE badge, and different color and design BBS rims. i dont believe its worth that extra few thousand as other posted in this thread pages back and posts before me. i might be the only one thinking this but the red stiching looks like **** unless its in a car with all black exterior or red. the other parts are whatever.

I really dont understand why some people are so bitter about the SE unless they are mad because they arent getting one. Its only an $1800 package. Hell, the SSL package is over $3000 and people dont complain about that. Before you had to buy and MR if you wanted an aluminum roof and the lightweight BBS wheels. Also if you wanted HID headlights, you had to at least pay for the SSL package or pay for an MR. Now you can get those options as well as the new lip and the unique seats and wheel finish for only $1800. For me it was obvoiusly the more logical decision.

i think it's a great deal compared to a IX GSR since you get the light rims and aluminum roof, also HID's, all for less than a set of forged aftermarket rims. i don't think it's really worth it to upgrade the MR to SE other than you HAVE to have a black car.

the little indent on the side of the SE front lip ruins it

its ****ING UGLY AS HELL!

the rims are kinda neat, but not worth the effort

and the seats are ugly

they would of been nice if they were all suede/alcantara with red stitch, like type R seats

meh...

nothing that makes me want to ditch the IX MR

Of course everyone is going to have their own opinion about anything that has to do with styling but in the end thats all it is, personal opinion. The good thing is that the front lip is actually functional since it provides more downforce and the indentations on the sides push air away from the wheelwells so less air gets trapped in them causing drag.

well for us already owning an evos, its really not worth upgradeing to this. a lip, wheels and different seats can all be obtained cheaper then buying a new car. maybe for current 9 owners they can go and try getting that package installed, but as i said imo its not worth it.

i doubt you can go have an aluminum roof panel installed at the dealer. and don't forget HID's and foglights.
