I thought each key is linked to the ECU....like some sort of immobilizer chip or something. Which is why you can't just buy an extra ECU and have it flashed and swap out your stock one for it. I was thinking about doing that but was told I couldn't for that reason.

That's what I was trying to explain here, but this guy seems to only care about his group buy/sale. Without any research or real-life experience this guy assures that since JDM and USDM Evo are built in Japan, the key will work. He hasn't even tried it or contacted a US dealer.

If in fact the dealer is able to program the JDM key, they're going to charge not less than $100, and if you add the $160 for the key itself, then you're wasting over $250 in something that most of the time will be either on your pockets or the ignition.

>$100 for reprogram? whatever... I think you SHOULD contact to a US dealer and get some REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE.

I've been following this thread since the beginning, and you have never said that you have contacted a US dealer to confirm that the JDM key WILL work on a USDM Evo. So far the only thing you keep saying is that since USDM and JDM Evos are built both in Japan, this JDM key SHOULD work. In my book this is not a fact, it's just an assumption. Have you tried this key in a USDM Evo? Better yet, do you have access to an USDM Evo whatever you are now so you can try it yourself? Do you know exactly how much a US dealer charges for programming a key? You started this thread for showing your new key, and as soon as you saw interest the topic changed to group buy. You even deleted the original price that you paid for it. There is nothing wrong in making profit, the problem is that you don't have proof that the key will work. Once it's proven that this key works for USDM Evos, then you should start your group buy.
