HOW TO: DETAIL your Evolution...Concours Style!
Well i must say i've read a couple "how-to's" on detailing in the last couple of years since i got into deep cleaning my car and well this is probably going to be the longest one i've read, and most detailed as well. Great job with the write up, i can't wait to read the rest. Although i'm yet to polish, glaze and seal, (i normally wash/clay/wax) this coming spring (car will be off the road for the winter) i'll be attempting it when i get the cash for a Porter Cable. Again great write up!

Thanks, I'm just so pissed that I can't have it done sooner. I also just acquired a new IX interior in my 2K3 VIII, so I guess I'll have separate sections in the interior portion
.
I'm still waiting on 3 things: FREE TIME (away form homework and other customers), Camera, and a nice day.

Sorry for the ongoing teasing everyone, being my age and having to deal with school and working on the weekends to afford the car is eating into ALL my free time. I havn't even waxed my car in 2 weeks...
I am still typing the process, but due to the coming cold weather (this IS Chicago), I may not even be able to finish this thread until...........next spring :GASP:!

thanks for such a great write up. i've never put so much effort into dealing a car before i read this post. ever since i read this post, i've invested so much money and time into detailing my car and it's turning out great. i got done polishing the car last night and putting glaze on it tonight. hopefully wax it also if i have enough time. i'm going to take some pics when i'm done and post the result. your post gave me the knowledge and confidence to try it.
Mitchubishi,
i have a couple of question for you.
1) is it any more beneficial to put on two coat of wax one right after the other or do you think it's just a waste of time.
2) it seems that most of the scratches on my car are from washing and drying the car. do you have any tips or techniques on how to reduce scratching your car while washing and drying.

Very light pressure and CLEAN towels and wash media will equate to less marring, but time does take its tool and you will get light marring eventually.
I usually wait one day for another coat of a Carnuba wax, gives it time for the wax to "cure"; sealant you can go ahead and do another coat right away.
