Does someone make a shorty antenna that does not suck?
As one who enjoys listening to college radio, I've tried a S2000 antenna as well as the short, machined antenna sold by Street Concepts in hopes of getting better reception. Neither equaled the performance of the stock piece. BTW, I had to mod the S2000 antenna with a Dremel to have it sit flush with the mount. The SC antenna fit perfectly. Please post if you find an antenna that gets better reception than stock. I'd be interested in trying it.
I had to grind out a bunch of plastic around the threaded insert. When I first tried fitting the antenna, I was a bit surprised by the gap, as no one mentioned it in any of the posts I'd read. Personally, I'd never recommend something that doesn't make for an exact fit, at least not without pointing out the obvious caveat.
Understandable. I'd feel like a moron driving around with an ill-fitting aftermarket part on a world class automobile, especially when it makes for diminished performance. Ironically, many switch to the S2000 antenna for the cosmetics. I'm not even sure how to reconcile the two concepts without laughing.
As I mentioned, the Street Concepts antenna fits perfectly. Like the S2000 antenna, it doesn't do well with lower-powered broadcasts nor does it discriminate well between closely adjacent signals, at least not as well as stock.
I don't know. I'd be curious to try it, though, and see if it betters the reception of the USDM piece.
i amjust meticulous about that stuff and wouldnt want that gap......
or are there any other antennas that are jsut as good and dont have the gap?
How is the JDM one?

agency power $30 shipped from vivid racing. Comes in silver, black, and graphite grey. I actually got better reception than the stock one in spots where the stock one was crapping out.
