I opted not to split them. Not sure how that affects the quality of the powder coating... And they were in fact blasted. I saw them in person and spoke with the owner about it. You seem pretty certain from only seeing an iPhone pic in ****ty lighting.

There's a reason why it was so cheap, for one those brakes are not blasted. I do a set of brembos every week or so and that black look is a coating from the factory under the paint that needs blasted off, secondly they coated your brakes assembled (at least the rears) in a few short months you will be going back there asking for your money back because what they did was seal the 2 halves together well vibrations, heat, etc will cause that powder to fail and start to lift/flake/peel all from around there. Thirdly, it looks as though they were coated with the pistons/dustboots installed. Do they have any idea what kind of liability that is now that your brakes may fail on you? Just because it looks pretty does not mean it was a good job. If you'd like I will call them to explain how badly they messed up and to fix it before you end up losing your brakes and get into an accident.

ALL of my parts were sent off to the sand blaster... to be blasted. I was charged $1.42/min for the blasting of all my parts. Roughly 102 min were spent on blasting my valve cover and calipers. This company has been in business for 17+ years and has done countless sets of calipers. Ive seen sets that were done years ago and still look brand new.

I am the one who took my rear brakes in assembled. They had nothing to do with this.

As far as coating them with the pistons and dust boots installed... Im also aware of this and I have a new set of dust boots going in this afternoon. I was not going to leave them this way.

^ did they disassemble the whole valve cover or seal off the bottom? all the baffles on the IX cover will hold sand / material like none other unless completely disassembled! make sure to inspect it closely before reinstalling, last thing you want is sand in the motor!

I initially dropped off my valve cover to them, had them mask it all off and then they take it to their sand blaster. He then blasted it and then I picked it up again from the powder coaters. I then ran it through a chem wash 3 cycles and brought it back to them. They then re-masked it and coated it.

For knowledge sake and just to help everyone who is willing to pay for their calipers to be coated I will strip and blast a caliper tonight when I go to the garage and post before and after pics to give everyone a reference.
