That sucks you replaced the bearings and didn't fix the noise... lifters maybe? That certainly wouldn't be coming from the bottom end though...

Nice work on the car so far.

Where you at in Pa? Check out the NE section and Phila Car Meets thread if your in the general area. We have meets every so often and a bunch of us autox together if your into that.

Also, Mishimoto makes a very nice, affordable, replacement rad for these cars. I just had to replace mine a few weeks ago.

Good Luck.

im about 2 hours south of phily but yeah i id deff hit one up if i was in the area, ive been looking at the mishimoto, im gunna get one when i get enough money haha, i have enough money for one but i drive back and forth to college each week to see my gf and the money i do have saved is my gas money till this semester is over and i can earn more over summer, so for now unless i find a really good deal i prolly wont be doing much to my car, ive been working on my girlfriends car more than mine lately haha. Header back catless exhaust, dvd screen, took off wing and repainted trunk, coilovers, new steelies, new tires, painted valve cover, intake, front/rear strut bars, lower control arms, front camber kit.... hahah her car gets more attention then mine does now

If it runs fine you might just want to drive it untill the problem becomes more obvious. If it aint broke then dont fix it approach. You say it drives fine?

yeah it runs really good, i want to check the lifters this week, could a valve make the same type of noise? its more of a nocking sound, at idle you cant really here it but when you have it under load youll hear it start to knock

I am currently "saving" an evo too. When I was reading your story I was thinking about the issues I have had so far. My wiring was also a nightmare because apparently the guy before me had every entertainment device available hooked up but ripped out before sale. He also spray painted the car flat black which is how I got it for a good price. I thought I could stand it for a while but it has gotten to ridiculous to ignore now. I also swapped bumpers back to stock just because it's more my style.

A lifter tap you should be able to hear at idle and it would get increasingly louder in the higher RPM range. That sounds more like engine knock that your getting. Possibly a bad tune?

Looks good, might want to just look at buying some used fenders off here, that's what I did.
