Another NASA race weekend has come and gone. This past weekend I attended a 2 day NASA AZ event at Inde Motorsports Ranch in Wilcox, AZ.
In prep for the race I went to my tuner Evan Smith (ES Tuning) in Tucson, AZ to finally dial in my new setup. Car made 507/446 (corrected on Mustang Dyno) on Time Attack Kill mode @ 31 pounds. I run my TT session with boost set around 26-27psi.
On to the race results: On the first day I placed 3rd in TTU, on Sunday I managed to improve my time by a full 2 seconds placing me in 2nd place on the Sunday. I don't think I will ever have a chance catching that damn Viper he is just silly fast. On Sunday I also took part in the UMS Time Attack race. (1 warm up lap, 2 hot laps and 1 cool down lap). I placed 1st in class and 1st overall (20+ cars).
My car worked great during the weekend only a few small issues with my catch can and my front splitter. I managed to snap two of my splitter support cables just from beating the living hell out of the front by scrapping it. My new tune on the motor was awesome and it never hiccuped once. Big thanks to MA Performance and ES Tuning for the support :thumb up:
Here is a quick vid of me driving by during my Time Attack run:

Had a two day track event this past weekend at my local track (arroyo seco raceway). Saturday went well and the car ran great in the 100+ degree weather, I could only really get 2 laps before the tires would boil off and it would start to push. I did manage 2 wins in my time attack class that day so I was stoked going into the next day of racing.
Sunday was not so great on my first run out at about 65 mph my hood flew up and destroyed my windshield and hood and put a few speed dimples in the roof. Needless to say my day was over very quick and I was rather pissed at my foolish mistake. I am severally OCD about my hood being latched/pinned ( I always ask people to double check for me after I am seated and secured in car). Mere seconds before I started out down the track I asked myself, "Did I latch the hood pins?" I told myself I did and that is was just my OCD kicking in and I double guessing myself. Well sh*t was I wrong. This is my one and only DNF at any track in 5+years, I really pride myself on having a well prepared car, Lets just say I will never forget to double check my hood pins again.
So the fix? I ordered up a new Seibon carbon hood and I am 99% sure I am going to install a lexan front piece. Im not gonna touch the roof because it really isn't that bad and it will server as a friendly reminder of my stupidity.....
