Kidloco51's Build thread. IX MR. Track Car.
That sucks about the hood! I had mine pop up on me a couple of months ago while driving down the highway. Luckily, the latch caught it and I slammed on the brakes and pulled over to the side.
I guess now you have no excuse for a lexan windshield.

^ You got lucky {thumb up}
Well I made some progress in the past few days. I decided to go with lexan for a couple of reasons. #1 its light, #2 it was cheap, I paid $147.00 for a 3/16th sheet which I managed to get 2 windshield out of it. #3 Global Time Attack now allows "limited" cars to run lexan (I plan on running some GTA events)
I ended up buying a Seibon knock off Voltex hood off EBAY (shame on me for buying knock off crap
). Fitment is pretty decent (what one would expect). It isn't any lighter than the OEM aluminum hood but I knew that before buying. I am not a huge fan of carbon fiber so I imagine I will end up painting it this winter.
I also picked up a sheet of 10mm thick Alumalite for a new splitter design. Stay tuned.

Prepping and masking lexan so I can paint edges black

working on my center strap for window. I am running a 1" piece on the inside and outside of windshield.

^ Im digging the turbo!
Had a chance to install the new oil cooler system this weekend. The biggest challenge was making all the brackets and getting things to fit nicely (big thumbs to my dad for helping out) I am super pleased with the results on the install, all I lack it to get a small piece welded to the intercooler for its support (I don't have the means to weld aluminum). On to the pics.
Added a slim fan to rad.

Detail of the brackets:

Tight fit but plenty of clearance.

I had a chance to finish up the oil cooler and make my new alumalite splitter. The new splitter is about 7 pounds lighter than my previous set up.

Kinda get the idea what it looks like from the bottom.

Oil cooler fits nicely. I had to trim a small piece on the bumper (see pic below)
