Plastidipped Gunmetal Gray Widebody Evo 8

So this past winter break I went full retard and installed
-VIS Overfenders
-VIS JDM Rear
-Stance GR+ Coilovers
-Gramlights 57dr 18x10.5+22 Hankook Rs3 265/35-18
-3 Gallons of Gunmetal Gray Plastidip

It took about 6 half days with the help of Paul, Rob, Matt and Ben mainly with all the sanding, the overfenders took the most work.

I chose not to cut the bumper area because there is a bolt that connects the bumper to the quarter panel there. I slightly trimmed it.
Since the QP is double walled I sealed it with silicone alone with a plastic finishing piece glued on top of that as well.

All credit goes to Erick Wong for the last 4 photos.

It s been over a month and the dip is holding up well, biggest regret was not pulling more trim, but then again this is a 300 dollar paint job.

Overall I'm happy.

You want to do mine?

I'm trying to find a shop to plasti-dip my track evo flat black.

Also, you might want to post your evo here:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...os-thread.html

I was considering merging your thread into that one.

I've had some offers.

If your going to just paint it with no body stuff it will take a day. It's really not hard at all, where are you located?

Depends if your doing black on a black car or white on a white car 2 gallons will be good.

For me I went gunmetal from white so it took 3 gallons with 6 coats or so

SF. I'm from Millbrae, old school 415.

What prep does it need, typically? Wash, clay bar and wax?

Haha I'm in San Jose.

There's a spray called pre dip spray. It's basically a light degreaser.

You wash the car first with a non wax based soap. Then use the pre dip spray or some sort of a degreaser or pre dip spray from them and go.
