3 for all 4 wheels. I guess roughly 3/4 of a can a wheel.

Hell My last truck saw many highspeed dirt roads and its plastic dipped wheels where still perfect.
Exactly. And when it does start to look bad you just peel it off and redo it if you want.

No sanding or chipping like with normal paint since this stuff is like rubber.

BTW I just washed my car today and noticed my wheels still look basically as good as the day I made this thread.

I've used this stuff on my lip and freaking love it. VERY scratch resistant and has a great textured, matte look. Kinda of a PITA to take off but will remove completely as I've used Plasti-Dip a few times.

I'm pretty sure most the nay-sayers have never used or even seen this product in person. Wheels look good, would have removed the stickers but doesn't take away from finished product.

Thanks.

The only reason you see the logo stand out on the wheels is because I originally wanted to have that showing so I taped it off. Little did I realize how rubbery Plasti Dip was. After I tried to do it on one wheel I decided it was not going to work and painted over it on that wheel leaving the tape on the other wheels, which is where you get the logo standing out from.

Other than that you cannot read anything on the wheels, aside from the diamonds that I cut out (but they were easy).

Plasti Dip holds up well. I will certaily do it again (learing from my errors on my first try).

Hey, how are these holding up? Been considering doing the same thing myself just to change the look for a bit. Do you need to do anything special when you wash the wheels or just be careful?

Nope, nothing special. I've went through a car wash several times and it's still holding on great.

Ended up doing this with a friend last weekend. He did his Mazdaspeed6 wheels and I did my BBS wheels. I got to say they look awesome IRL, they feel funky too since it is a rubberized paint heh. Pretty awesome really, he used 3 cans for all 4 wheels and I used 2 cans for my 4. 13 bucks when all is said and done, not too shabby really. Now to see how long it lasts. I have a feeling that even if it scratches or gets a bit chipped off it won't be so bad to fix. When we were doing it we had a bit of debris fly in and land on my friends wheel, he removed it but kind of smudged off all the plastidip in that one small section. By the time we were done we couldn't tell which one it was. Likewise I also had a goof up, there was a small bit of water left on the lip so the paint did not adhere there of course. I noticed it after the first coat had dried so I carefully removed the affected area, and resprayed it, then resprayed the whole wheel. I couldn't tell the difference either when we were done. Hopefully it works that well later on if they get scratched!

This is the only pic I've managed to get, unfortunately we finished off at around 6pm and with the time change its getting dark way too early so I had to use a flash, not to mention the car was still seriously dirty and I had not rubbed off the minor over-spray I got on the tires... Going to try to get some more pics including a closeup tomorrow morning before work.

Got some decent pics of how mine turned out. I can't be happier, now I just need to figure out how to make the lugnuts look nicer... wonder if wheel paint would be durable enough....

Toyota/Lexus MAG open ended lug nuts. Pretty much identical to our stockers except they don't have the round cap.
