I like them both better with the smaller wing options.

Most dealers will work out a deal to get a regular WRX wing on an STI). No wing doesn't look right, but the big wing is just a bit overkill IMO. I really wish I had gotten the smaller wing on my black EVO. In fact, if anyone wanted to trade I'd do it in a heartbeat.

 

If you want an Evo without the CF wing just get it with the low wing. I personally think the car needs some type of wing for looks, but it doesn't necessarily have to be the CF wing.

 

well after some severe boredem i decided to see what it would look like without the huge rally inspired wing. it's pretty basic stuff to take it off. just undo 4 10mm bolts( i swear you could take the whole car apart with a10mm socket wrench). after about 5 minutes per side jossiling it around tryin to free the wing from the glue thats on there i finally got the wing free. i ended up hitting myself in the head because i didnt know there was fittings that have to be snapped off with some strength. well i placed it on the floor and stepped back about 15 ft and thought to myself.. "wow this is one ugle S.O.B. " i mean it seemed to make the car look a lot higher off the ground. it just wasnt for me at all. maybe if the car was lowered it would look "ok". but i ended up puting it back on in about 6 minutes of thinking if i wanted to be diferent or not. ok well those are my thoughts on the wingless evo. if your bored i suggest you try it just to see.

I'm probably the only guy who feels this way, but I didn't like the Evo carbon fiber wing. I bought my evo with the smaller spoiler, but am planning to upgrade to a different carbon fiber wing in the future.

 

I'd like one that's more subtle myself. But all I've seen are ugly so far. The search continues...

 

ya i mean i think the stock wing does go very well with the over all look of the car. and even the lil wing is not enough imo. besides looks it does serve a purpose though.

YEAH on the wing ... normally not a big fan of huge park bench wings ... but this one DEFENATLY makes the car look good!

 

Not feeling that Evo at all. The wing is the trade mark of an Evo so its better to put back the wing. If that makes you happy, so be it.

 

If u look like that sleeper look that's cool, but it looks nasty w/out it.

 

bah, i'd rather not have a wing ---wont be driving / cornering at 120+ and im not a big fan of unwanted attention. But the car looks good w/ the wing as well, and i do think it does take away from the look --but i could def. live w/o the wing.

 

This seems to be the never-ending debate.

Pros of the CF wing:

Part of the Evo heritage
Looks cool
Functional above 85 MPH, reducing body lift

Cons:

Looks ricey
Attracts attention of thieves, carjackers, and law enforcement
Blocks rearward vision
Adds a tiny bit of weight

Opinions about whether the car looks good or not without the wing are typically negative. But the only opinion that counts is the one of the owner. For some, removing the wing adds to the stealth properties of the car, which is not a bad thing at all.
