I was watching your blue Evo video for about the 20th time on YouTube, watching you do the pull past the camera car, when I started reading the comments... The letters rip came up and I couldn't believe it. Honestly, I have looked and saved pictures of your car since I bought mine in hopes to have something to look forward towards achieving. Your car was always my favourite on the forum for its originality and it was an absolute shock to see the letters rip. Car forum guru set in and my investigation brought me here. I repeated the word no out loud about 50 times while reading your original post, almost more hurt than when I sold my car haha. You have a talent and nack for building cars over 3/4 of us dream of. Don't get out of the game now once you've come this far. For all of us that have followed your posts and picture/videos, do it for us!!! Haha

Rant/leg hump end

Damn! I wonder how much $$$$ youve spent rebuilding your Evo. Kudos to your never ending effort man!

Btw, do you still go to Zen?

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

No Jim I don't go there. I moved to Raleigh, NC for my job (And its closer to my wife's family in Toronto). I do try to visit then every once and a while when I'm in town to visit my folks.

Saw you were selling your car. Sucks you're getting out. Getting something better or taking a break?

Honestly @tunedclips I remember doing that with alot of cars and saving inspirations to give me an idea on how to make it my own when I had the opportunity to. So to see your words definitely is encouraging. I've had a few offers for magazine features but nothing came of it and I felt like chasing it was akin to begging, and I don't do that. So thanks......reading what you wrote and others definently makes me feel like the effort wasn't for nothing.

When I build a car I do it for me first and having other people like it is the cherry on top. My black one isn't quite where I'd like it to be at the moment but I'm taking a long break from do anything car related. I need to finish getting some stuff done around the house, my wife has a modified STi and we would both like to stop driving our nice cars everyday (we car pool most of the time but that means either the STi or Evo is getting driven all the time) since our civic is on its last legs and I want another motorcycle next year.

The only things I would like to do is repaint, different wheels and MAYBE finally getting another set of Bride Japan seats (I LOVE the Cuga/Vorga). Re-reading my post feels surreal, like I'm reading someone else's story.

Right now my car is EATING oil like there is no tomorrow (No oil in IC or piping, not smoking excessively, no oil in coolant, nothing in the catch its literally disappearing) and I'm just a little weary from all of the BS it as put me through so I only drive it when I have to. I have been disciplined enough to not drive it hard while I try to figure out what could be wrong. I'm bringing it to a local Scooby shop that takes care of my wife's STi (but has a Evo mechanic on staff) to do a compression/leakdown test this week we'll see. Hopefully I get some answers.

Spec ops didn't have an answer for you with the oil consumption? It's their motor right?

Such an amazing story and it was surprisingly emotional when I put myself in your situation. You really played it cool when your prized position was dying right in-front of you. Respect. True Evo enthusiast.

Yeah didn't like their hypothetical's when i brought the car back to them to help me figure it out. I assume they didn't do a compression or leakdown test or else I probably would've been charged and told the results, BUT, to be fair I have only been texting back and forth with one of the owners that is not always there so they haven't gotten the car back to really go through it.

I'll have someone local do the leakdown. Spec-Ops is supposed to re-tune the car on ECU controlled boost so I may have them look more closely at it then.

You didn't here my original commentary on the video. I put music over it because it was a LOT of FBOMBs and saying I'm done with Evo's. LOL. I was kinda embarrased when I listened back to it so I decided to put some music over it and upload.

Your story just inspired me to keep pushing. Even as a new evo owner there are times I wonder why I have one because of all the small things that's been constantly nagging at me. Blown head gasket to dead coil packs and now throttle body issue is making me think twice why I love this car so much, but looking at the hardship you went through with yours is motivation enough for me to keep at it. Thanks!

Glad my experience can help. This post was as much public service/informercial as it was cathartic/self-help. LOL.

Wow I forgot about this post (yes I'm bumping my old thread).

Almost 2 years later. Dropped my car off to figure out what was wrong with it. Oil issue ended up being incorrectly spec'd P2W clearance. Dropped the car off last year June. Hopefully will get it back in a few weeks

I'm def at the end of my rope now. Only reason why I may end up keeping the car is because my son will be in college soon and I dont want to have a car note. I've been considering a IS-F or the new Ford Focus RS when it comes out.

In the years since this post we've added a 2004 Forester XT with Upgraded VF turbo and STi bits on it (my son is starting drive now so thats the car he does drive since is auto.....wife got tired of driving standard all the time). Still have the STi (Old reliable) and bought a 2014 1000CBR RR in white beginning of this year.

And have driving my Evo a total of a week in the last 12 months. Enough time to get it registered and smog'ed (last Feb), but I gotta do it again for this year (May). Hoping I'll get it back in a few weeks and then I will decide if I'm going to keep it or get out of the Evo game finally. Its hard to remain attached to something that has caused you this much grief.

Yeah Raleigh is pretty tame compared to Atlanta for motorcycle ownership. I dont do stunts or speed crazy. Im only keeping the EVo thus far because I cant sell it not running right, After i get it back.....we'll see.
