Your opinion on gauge face design...
Your opinion on gauge face design...
I've been toying with this gauge face design for a while and finally decided to visualize (photochop) it. Any opinion you guys have would be appreciated. Colors, fonts, more lines, less lines.

I'll try to recreate what they would look at night. More photochop to come.
Thanks,
Bryan
P.S. Thanks to the person that was selling the ralliart gauges who took this photo.
4/29 Updates:
Have come a long way since this first post. For those reading this for the first time. There are two styles of gauges being made (not photochoped):

Color theme is still to be determined. But those are the two styles that I have in my hands right now and will be available to you soon. The gauges are lit using EL wire. These are gauge face replacements, so you use your stock cluster and just replace the plastic faces and change the lighting a little.
There is a group buy going on right now, the price for one set should be around $130 shipped. Emulous has more info on the group buy, it's around message 185, near the end.

i think the whole thing looks tacky. the line indicating speed are to spaced out and are soo long. no need for that. it looks kinda like a rice boys gauge. no offense but put some plush things on there. like instead of the evolution lettering put like the VII after and have the V in like a read. so it kinda stands out. like under it maybe. or you might want to get rid of that part all together and put some kind of boost gauge in there. i think you should just work on it a lil more. glad to see someones tryin to make a new one though. can you do somthin with the shape of the numbers as well.

I like the Mr2zx3 idea of having the narrowed red zone from 8000 to 9000, but on the numbering I think it would look perfect if it was exactly like stock but in white instead of red. Either that or stock looking numbers and markings that are black on white instead of the red on white you have pictured.

YellowFever, funny you should ask since I don't have one "yet", but I have plans for a tarmac black one.
Doesn't the fuel cutoff kick in by 8k rpm? Would there be any harm other than misleading others to think the redline was higher? The red idea is good.
The lettering is kinda hit or miss, I kinda like the slanted look. But I understand if it might not have that "technical" or "tuned" look to it.
The evolution name is there firstly because no one like the lancer name on their's. And I tried to squeeze the VIII in, but it just won't fit unless you made it so small as to look out of place with the rest of the gauge. Any other ideas on what to put there?
For a boost gauge, that would be someone's custom install. But I do have plans to try a LED boost meter built into the tach since there is plenty of space there.
As for the style of the gauge, the initial idea came from this set of Blitz BLM gauges:

I might tweek it a bit since I think the sub-markers are too thick. But here are some other gauge designs that I might try to recreate:

I'll focus on the black face and post some revisions.

Excuse my poor quality attempt here.. But my development forte is not in art unforunately, and my tools are lacking.
You can always put the VIII behind the Evolution.
I like who that one blue and white theme with red accents matches the Blitz font and format..
