Any Evos with aftermarket stereo systems?

what kind of performance effects does adding subs and a box have on 0-60, 1/4 etc? i think i roughly have about 150lbs in the trunk. here is my stereo.

Kenwood Kvt915
Focal interior speakers
Eclipse Ea3422
2 MTX 9500 12s (about 50lbs each)
4cf ported enclosure
MTX 1501d amp

If you have pics of your system please post. thanks!

150 will be like having an extra person in the car, maybe that weight would help in certain circumstances, adding rear downforce/traction, and hurt in others. I brought over my Sony cassette head unit and 10 disc MP3 changer from my old car, and it sounds great, while only adding about 2 lbs! To be honest, though, I'd rather listen to the engine...

you will be .15 seconds slower in the quarter and you will probably handle a little better.

How do you figure that?

I'm in the process of replacing the stock setup with:
Alpine 9827 HU
Infinity Kappa speakers (63.5s rear, 60.5s front, Basslink sub)

Speakers and HU are pretty much the same as stock and the basslink at ~20lbs isn't too bad, plus it's easily removeable.

JVC AR3000 headunit
MB Quart RSD 216 component speakers
MB Quart RWE 160 rear speakers
Kenwood 4 ch. amp

I have a Rockford Fosgate 12" bandpass box sub with a RF Punch Amp that I haven't put in because I don't want the weight.

I guess another option would be bazooka tubes instead for lighter weight....

Simple physics. Weight distribution. It's horrible on our EVOs. Suspension could use some work too.

Well it's not that bad and usually no matter what, even if your getting the distribution right, adding more weight will only screw up the way the suspension is set. The rear would probably tend to swing out more if you were to add subs and amps in the back. But, I'm thinking with aftermarket coilovers, the problem would be close to fixed and in that case handling would improve.

Gotta disagree, but it's cool. It's whatever.

thanks everyone for your posts, i have a set of JIC coilovers that i will install soon. as for the system, i still like the sound but not sure what effect it had on my performance. my main concern was from standstill to 60 or basically street application. forgot to add that i removed the bottom lining of the trunk and the spare tire to install the box, which pretty much takes up my whole trunk.

Simple physics dictates that more mass = more inertia, which in turn means that more force will need to be applied to change direction. . . but whatever. Differences of opinion like this is what we have tracks for
