GReddy boost gauge issue...

I just had my Greddy 52 mm electric boost gauge installed and everything went fine...only problem is it's only working every OTHER time I start the car.

Start it once, everything's fine. Start it again, nothing. Start it a third time, everything's fine...and so on.

Anyone have a similar problem/experience? Any ideas?

Thanks!

The shop suggested it was a faulty boost sensor...but could this be the case if it's reading fine when it does work?

My guess is that something was installed backwards or not wired properly...

Any input would be great...has anyone heard of this happening?

I love my new gauge but would hate to sacrifice my starter motor by wearing it out twice as fast

one of the things you can look at at is that the wiring connections! the same thing happen to me, and the gague just stop working. i then rewired my wries and now its fine! check that first!

Thanks for the advice...but that's the tricky part-it works fine every other time I start the car. I think the wiring is fine...though I can't be sure, but the person who did the install swears it's correct and I trust him.

I thought I could at least bypass having to actually turn over the ignition and start the engine by just turning the power on, then turning it off again, then turning it all on again...but no dice

Once again though, it worked fine on the way to work-2 starts later

Any other ideas are welcome...please keep 'em coming! I'll try and talk to someone at GReddy today to see if they have any ideas...

Where are you tapping for a boost pressure source? If you are tapping off the fuel pressure regulator, make sure you are tapping BEFORE the relay. It sounds like you are tapping after the relay if it is hooked up to the FPR.

Thanks for the idea...but the tech that did the install did tap before the relay (he called it a solenoid).

So...I'm/we're out of guesses. We think it's a defect in the gauge itself somewhere. So I can send it back, (major pain in the ***) or just use the 'ol start it twice method that works every time I go on a spirited run A hassle yes, but I don't really need the gauge to work driving less than 45mph to and from work every day.

Still, I paid for the gauge to work all the time...maybe it just adds character

Sounds like a defect; send it straight back and Greddy sould either fix it or replace it.

Yeah, it does sound like a manufacturer defect...I should send it back.

Now the gauge never works on start up but ALWAYS starts working about a mile into my drives. Somewhat better than the having to start it twice method. Maybe my car is getting comfortable with the gauge? We'll see how the two play together tomorrow

Thanks for all the advice!
