If you're talking about the metal backing plates, behind the rotors, they should be held onto the hub by two bolts....probably 10mm or 12mm

Can I ask why you want to remove...there is really no extra brake cooling capacity without them. In fact, I know of at least one avid track driver that came in from a session with his ABS sensor wire on fire and his bottom ball joint boot melted because he removed them.

RobiSpec has done some testing with this same outcome: no benefit to removing them.

Now if you're doing it to install a brake cooling duct kit, that's a different story.

As far as how to remove...dunno. Just wanted you to be informed.

Remove the two 19mm bolts that hold on the caliper, slide the caliper off the rotor, remove the rotor, and then remove the 10mm bolt that sits behind the hub. Be sure to tie down the abs sensor wire or you will cook it.

^^^
thanks, got it....

the back story is that I fried my entire brake system at the track... the dust shields are gone now... I'll also be adding brake guides or ducts (still figuring out which I want)

also will be stepping up to some dedicated track pads.

when I came off track the shields were really hot... so I refuse to hear that they're not trapping heat.
