You'd be better off with 285/30's on those wheels. the 295 and 275's are too tall.

I didn't say they wouldn't. I just said the 285's would fit better. the 285's are also basically the same width, if not a touch wider than the 295's (for hoosiers at least).

6MM spacer for caliper clearance? Or fender liner problems?

You are right Marshall... the 285's fit better than the 295's because of the OD.

I run the 295 R888's on 10.5's and they are 11.625" actual section width.

I put 2 on top of each other and measured from the floor to top of the 2nd tire and divided by 2.

Nollij,
I want to fit 315's, but I need to run an 11" wheel. Which I think is pretty close to happening. I saw some Hoosier 315's on an 11" wheel at TX2K12 and it seemed to fit very well. I want to fit HOOSIERS... i don't really care to fit street tires. I'm pretty sure I could put a 315 or 305 street tire on my 10.5's and fit them, but I need to fit 11's.

I'm getting some custom fenders made... By the same guys who did this car So they're really good with aluminum! Then I can fit 11's up front and I KNOW I can fit them out back. Might take a mini-tub, but I've seen the light.

Our hoosier 285's on 10.5" wheels are just about 12" section width (as close as I can measure with a tape measure).

From where we are with the 10.5 et30 wheels and 'stock' rear fenders, i figure an 11.5" wheel should fit in the rear easy, once you deal with the trailing arm. and 12" is probably possible if you're careful.

We've had our front fenders flared out about .75" each side to fit the 10.5 et5 wheels. If we weren't limited by our rules on pounding down the body seam behind the front tires, I think 11.5's with the correct offset should fit up front pretty easy as well.

...so quit being a chicken and get some real wheels!

also, I think the 315's would be easier to fit on a wider wheel because the tire won't squirm/flex as much so you won't need as much dead space around the tire to prevent rubbing. So i'd be shooting for an 11.5" or 12" wheel.

exactly my thoughts. I think having a 315 on an 11" wheel would be like having a 285 hoosier on a 9.5" wheel... LOTS of movement.

I think an 11.5" is the minimum, but I'll have to find an inch of room front and rear.

All this talk about 315s is making it seem like my efforts to fit 285s is trivial.

technically i'd say a 315 on a 10.5 wheel is equivalent to a 285 on a 9.5...but yes in theory I agree with you.

If I were going to do it, i'd get some 18x11.5+43 wheels with a 43mm spacer ( )for the front. ok really i'd probably do an evo X front control arm swap first and then recalculate how much spacer is needed.

edit: of course i'm just shooting from the hip here, i'd double check my measurements before buying the wheels.

I was thinking a 18x11 +44 would fit very well, I don't know that I could get another 6mm worth of wheel under my rears on the OUTBOARD side. I rolled them pretty well, maybe I'm missing some tricks.

Maybe I'm not running enough camber... I'm right at 2 degrees right now.

I know you're running the 10.5 +30 marshall, and I'm at a 10.5 +38 I'm confident I can go 6mm more inboard, and you've proven you can go 8mm outboard... that leaves us with another 11.4mm worth of wheel to fit.

At that point if we went inboard, we'd have to run a 6" spring in the rear, shave the rear muffler hanger (already did it), add some more offset to the trailing links, and start making some clearance on the inner rear fenders with a BFH or creative cutting/welding - Minitub.

I want to dead hook 600 lb-ft of torque ~ 675whp in 2nd gear

I think a viable solution for the front is dialing in the caster to reduce rubbing and clearance the front bumper a bit... AND limit the steering rack even more than it already is (i know... I'll have a mile wide turning radius)
