I heard of people going with 245/40 R17 with no problem. Not sure about 245/45.

I've seen many board members with that size and no issues.

Reading any number of threads in this forum would have also answered this question.

245/45/17s do fit without issue.

They fit but your gearing will be off. Lots and lots and lots of Evo guys run a stiff sidewalled 255/40 17 on stock rims with zero problems. That's almost identical to the overall stock wheel and tire diameter.

True and not true. The 255/40s are .2in shorter so the gearing would be less. Basically, you would max out 4th quicker in the 1/4. A 245/45 fitment is .2 taller, so it gives you some extra top in 4th gear. It also depends on the tire. As mentioned, they have to have stiff sidewalls. Else, it will be sloppy. I have run both, and for me I prefer the 245/45s. Different strokes for different folks.

Very true man, good point. Just trying to point out that there are other options. Def nothing wrong with the 245/45. I guess it really depends on the tire you want to run more than anything. I personally run the 255/40 but I have a 9 inch rim.
