I know this is an old thread...

But what do you guys think of these? (You get what you pay for I know) These are readily available instead of having to wait weeks/months for the Nagisa ones...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTRA-RACING-3-POINT-FENDER-BRACE-STRENGTH-BAR-ARM-02-06-MITSUBISHI-EVO-8-9-/151005165058?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item23289bf602&vxp=mtr
And not to mention cheaper...

My car was hit driver side having to replace the complete apron, so I want to reinforce as much as possible...

wow zombie thread. Nice.

I cant watch the video, so I apologize if it is mentioned...but what are they made out of? thickness and mounting differences?

they seem to be the same, but I am always hesitant of ebay parts. I say guinea pig it up and try it out!

Haha....no worries!

As with many listings, they do not provide tech specs...

High quality steel, but no thickness or any additional info....

I think I just might bite the bullet and purchase these.....

Only if I knew how to weld.....

John was considering it, but then when he saw that there was limited demand for it, decided not to do it.

I am going to have my front fenders off in the next month, so I was going to do it as a "what the hell" kinda thing... as they are cheap and can't hurt.

The only question I have is are the Evo 7-9 all the same chassis? In other words, can I use braces made for a 7 on a 9?

I have the ultra racing fender braces and I must say that they are worth every penny. More precise steering and an overall more solid feel driving over uneven roads. I noticed when I pulled out of my driveway, which is pretty steep, to the flat street. Install was pretty easy, would have been better if I had another hand to help line up the doors again, but I managed on my own. Ultra racing pieces seem to be of very good quality, I haven't had an issue and I have there fender braces and trunk cage.

Very easy to install just need to drill 1 or 2 holes.

No fitment issues, I have an 8 with fender liner in place.

I just installed these on my Evo 5 last weekend. Pretty straightforward. Getting to the drilled hole nuts are a little tricky (one trick for nuts in a hard to reach spot, tape your finger with e-tape or the like and stick the nut to it). They do not give you a nut tool so you will need to hold them in place some how while you tighten them. Seem to tighten up the front suspension ever so slight. Though Ive only driven the car twice since the install. Can definitely feel a difference going over bumps and road transitions.

Imo, they are a great addition for the 4/5/6 as we dont have a factory A Pillar to fender brace. The bar is quite thick, totally spaced to weigh them. Good welds, and powdercoat looks good. I plan to pick up their 4pt rear strut brace. One plus about their ebay ads, you can offer a lesser price than they are asking for. Shipping was very quick considering they are in Malaysia .

Yeah 7-9 is all the same chassis, CT9A

I'm temped to buy these however at the same time am also considering fabing up some myself. Seems like a simple project so it shouldnt be too difficult.

Yeah yeah, it may. Honestly though I only compete locally and most dont follow SCCA rulebook. The classing is quite simple: Novice, Experienced street tire, experienced race tire. Some have specific Corvette, Mustang, Miata, Porsche classes but other than that its pretty basic.

When I do run with SCCA I am in SM but not too competitive with my 255 star specs. All in all, I'm not to concerned with classing at this point as its solely for fun.

Thanks for your input, appreciate it!

I will place an order with them, reasonably priced and will hopefully do the trick! ;-)
